Apple getting bit

can someone explain what happened after hours.. my data feed showed the bid at 237.60 for sometime but now it appears closed at 233.xx

That print is probably a latent print from the regular session. Happens all the time in after hours.
 
it looks like apple making iphone for verizon and thats why it popped $5 or another $4.5 billion of mkt cap. mkt cap near $213 bil now and counting. i think apple as a run to $250 and possibly $300 if it gets crazy.I think its an awesome short in the next few months if it really skys. they hype on apple is gettin deafening and the expectations threw the roof so a real miss of earnings is a possiblility this yr
 
it's true there is a lot of hype with apple, however, i just can't see them missing earnings. it's the same old story with this company. a lot of hype from the fanboys, releases of products not living up to expectations, and then yet somehow apple beats street expectations.

true, i can't disagree with anything you said.

however, the exact same argument was made 9 years ago about the iPod....."who is gonna pay a bunch of money for a fancy mp3 player when you get other mp3s for much cheaper.

and i believe a similar argument was made a few years ago as the Phone came out....."who's gonna pay $400 for a fancy touch-screen phone"?

Apple's genius is in marketing and selling a product that people previously thought was a luxury but ultimately becomes almost a necessity. will the same thing happen with the iPad? i have no idea. i personally have no plans to buy one.....but i'm a happy aapl long-term shareholder.

Honestly, I doubt it. If this thing has a big debut like some people are saying, aapl can and will hit 250 easily. There is a lot of skeptical money on the sidelines still missing on this run bc of fears the iPad will be a flop. This CDMA deal is a lot bigger than people think too bc they can get to many other networks overseas. and once they have verizon, they can move to the biggest animal of all, China Mobile. Put that in the mix and apple will have the smartphone market in numbers. given some time they'll work their way into corporate america and it will be the standard just like the blackberry is now.
Im kicking myself for getting rid of mine for a BB bold, and going to get the 32g 3GS in a few weeks. it really is an amazing phone and i have no doubt that the ipad will be a great product. Im going to get one when the hysteria at the stores dies down.
 
So how many people are buying this ipad, if you have more than 2 ways to access the internet for email and the basics on a laptop, netbook, or desktop why even go out and pay another $600+ for the same thing. I don't understand why people are running out to buy a tablet computer, they have been on the market for many, many years, now all of the sudden people think its the newest thing.

Its not just a tablet, it has the apps and other apple gizmo stuff. And not everyone has multiple laptops/computers/etc. Who cares if you understand it or not, you're supposed to be a trader. the only thing that matters is what is.
