Appian Video Card

Does anyone know if the Jeronimo Pro 4 port would have a problem with only 3 monitors? Do all ports have to be used? I'm planning on getting one from ebay but I want to make sure there are no issues with my intended setup. I need to replace 3 separate cards to try and resolve possible resource conflicts with my NIC. I'm running w2k on an 1.2ghz AMD.

Can't help but chuckle. Ha. It's me, BCE, from the RealTick bandwidth limitations, data feed hassles thread. Ha. I have a Jeronimo Pro I've had for 3 years now and run 3 monitors, 1 Trinitron 21" CRT and 2 LG Electronics 19" CRT's and it works great. Windows installs a 4th phantom monitor as another monitor that's not being used. I did have problems with RealTick and Windows 98SE (it didn't like the Appian driver for Win 98) but it runs fine under Win XP Pro and as I recall you have Win 2000 which I think is okay with RealTick too. And eBay is a good place to buy one. I paid $900 for mine new.
PS. I've been working with Josh Moses today via email to try and resolve my RealTick issues and I'll let you know how it goes. I did just ping CyberTrader and they seemed to be using less bandwidth. Good luck on eBay. And careful to make sure it works okay.

Nothing personal but the way your question is phrased seems a bit judgmental. It implies that I must be stupid for spending so much money and you're smarter because you spent only a tenth as much. If you'll read my post again you'll see that I bought this new 3 years ago and I'd be more than willing to bet you that you couldn't have purchased a brand new Matrox card that ran 3 monitors in 1999 that had anywhere near the performance of the Appian card. In fact I don't even know if Matrox made cards to run 3 monitors then. Certainly not, as your question implies, new ones for $90. Not to justify my purchase for you but at the time I was also doing web development and computer graphics work and the Appian Jeronimo Pro is a legacy card and remains one the most stable cards out there. Would I pay $900 for a card now? Probably not to just trade with but I would if I was also using it for high end graphics work which I still do.

I know you have W98 and I have W2000, but could you check your Device Manager and see whether there is more than one IRQ assigned to the graphics controllers on the Jeronimo Pro adapter? Appian tech support was unclear as to whether one, or more than one IRQ is assigned to each controller on the card. If it does assign more than one, which ones does it use. Do you have a network adapter? If so, is it shareing an IRQ with anything else? Thanks for your help.

Actually I'm using Windows XP Pro which I just installed on a new 120 gig hard drive. And in answer to your questions, all the display adapters are on IRQ 11 and my network card, which I'm not using now since I lost my cable connection, is on IRQ 10. And there's something called Vortex PCI Multifunction Parent which is also on IRQ 11.
