Appian Rushmore & PCI cards in general - trouble w/Pentium 4 systems?

I was informed today at the computer store while that a PCI card such as the Appian Rushmore would run erratically on a P4 system.

The rep stated that the Rushmore worked fine on Pentium III systems but not P4's - they called Intel about it early this year and were told that the P4 systems are better suited for AGP video cards as they were still working out the PCI issues.

Is anyone running an Appian Rushmore on a Pentium 4 system?

Have any of you Pentium 4 users experienced problems with PCI cards?

I think that I remember reading here on ET a while back that it was the intel motherboard with the 850e chipset that didn't like the multi monitor (not specifically the Appian Rushmore) cards. Look back through the hardware pages or do a search, I'm sure it's in there somewhere.

I don't think that it was an issue with the P4 processor, just one or some of the motherboards.

I have had a 32 meg J Pro 4 head for about four years. Started with Win NT and now use it with Win2K.

Works fine no problems. If I had to do it over again I might look at 2 dual head cards, just because if one card goes down, at least you have the other card.

I am currently running 3 19" monitors at 1024 x 728 @ 85 hertz. Rock solid no flicker.

I've had two Jeronimo Pro 16mb dual cards for the past three years on an NT4 system. I run three monitors on them. They have worked flawlessly since I got them. I got them on Ebay for around $70 each, at a time when the quad card was running at around $800 new. This may be a better alternative than a quad card for both price and for the reasons Bruce mentioned above.

It's clear there are still plenty of jobs available for folks who really know technology. :D :D :D

I'm running a P4 on an 850E mainboard with three PCI Matrox G450s and one AGP GeForce4 4600. No problems at all. The only place I have heard this rumor is here on ET, where it continues to resurface.
