If it costs this much to have what amounts to a guerilla war with insurgents in Iraq then what might it cost to have "something" with Russia or Iran? Russia must know they can do what they want unchallenged since they're aware of popular sentiment on it here. This greatest country in the world and everyone else is by comparison just on our turf is not a smart way of going into the 21st century. This country has to start producing more than paper pushing business graduates.

Say you were going to hire an employee.
Age is not supposed to be a factor, but you find out the guy is 72 years old and, has cancer (in remission) and war injuries that impact his physical mobility...
The job you are hiring for require the ability to make quick and decisive decisions, work extremely long hours, have good interpersonal skills, be able to negotiate between emotional employees to a compromise not blow you temper easily but always remain calm and even tempered, and in the interview the applicant talks a lot about what he did 35 years ago, who he worked for 20 years ago...but mentioned nothing much about the boss he he agreed with 90% of the time (Bush in this case, as leader of the republican party) over nearly the past 8 years...
Would you hire him?

Obama is simply recognizing that the war on terror is supposed to be against al quaeda NOT iraq, so if pakistan is sponsoring them thats an INTERNATIONAL issue that we need to recognize as opposed to simply focusing only in Iraq.
BTW your article says "military strikes"...do you think if we would, as our first choice, drop bombs all over the place in pakistan? No there's something called covert operations. But who cares, the point is that the war is on terror and we should focus on terrorists.
