Yeah, get Windows 7.

Seriously - first Window supporting SSD drive features (TRIM command, basically). Besides that there is no proper setup unless you do heavy duty file server etc. - just use it normally.

I'm thinking of sticking an SSD in my laptop. Less noise, longer battery life, faster boot up.

What's not to like?

Kingston puts out a simple conversion kit now. Looks easy to swap. Has a 3 yr warranty.

Be sure to read up on SSD detection in Win7 if you have Win7.

Apparently there are some settings which need to be checked so you don't put undue wear on the drive. And Win7 does not always detect them as designed.

I went through 2 of them, the Gen2's. When they fail - they are dead. NO way to recover. At least when I lost my boot sector on my old drive, I was able to plug it into a secondary port and get my data back.

I had TC replace my drive with a new SSD - 2 months later - same problem. dropped like a stone. So, proceed at your own risk. I will stay with my SATA drive :D
