Anyone using a high end PC and still experiences slowness with TWS

Wrong...TWS is ram limited. Doesn't matter if you have 16gb or 128gb...its the same to TWS because the limits are hard coded. Just ask support and they'll tell you the same thing. Its a limitation of Java and the virtual machine TWS runs in.

Try motivewave and ninjatrade, I got the same problem. Ninja trade I had only one chart opened. Took a few seconds to load.
Motivewave I had between 6-10 charts open, some timeframes take a lot of time to load almost same or more than TWS and the market is not even open.

But you were using IB's data feed for those programs no? If you were it shows it's an IB server side thing

for ninjatrader no I wasn't using IB data but for motivewave I was connected to it through IB API

I will check back tomorrow and get back to you. Yes sometimes TWS opens the chart no problem but other times it says "Attempting to retrieve data" or sometimes the chart loads on some timeframes but it doesn't on others like El_Cubano posted above
I get the attempting to receive data message with option charts but not with stocks.

I get that with charts at times but I assume it wouldn't be an issue or takes very little time to load with very powerful CPU

Do a clean install of Windows and do a rebuild of your TWS XML file. The XML file is the :config: for your TWS setup. Start with the minimum of charts. Then you have a baseline.

The XML file get bigger and bogged down after it changes a lot. My xml file was 7kb and reduced it to 3.5 kb and there was a good improvement.

Running i7-8750H, Evo 970 Pro SSD and RTX2070. If you check the resource monitor, CPU speed is not the bottleneck enough to warrant a new CPU. Just about any dedicated GPU works and integrated ones too. SSD always helps on booting anything.

Bottom line, the issue is more your setup-config of TWS and stale Win 10 install, not the hardware. Sure a new machine will help, but that is also a clean Win10 and TWS install which would probably account for a large portion of the improvement.

I formatted my Win 10 and it looks faster now. I think if I upgrade my PC and internet sped the issue can be almost solved. Hopefully

When you upgrade spend the extra $$ ( right now on New Egg it's only $40) for a 10850K and ignore what the other guy said about TWS and RAm just get 32 gigs. I assume you are going to build a new PC rather than buy one ??

Yes you are right. 10850K would be better than 10700k for a bit of money. I think good CPU and good RAM can solve the issue.
If you go to Multicharts system requirements, they mention you need at least 8cores if you are running more than 10 charts, so I don't think it is any different for TWS specially that TWS is heavy on the PC.
When I do it, I'll let you know how it goes
