Anyone using a high end PC and still experiences slowness with TWS

Its a giant pain in the ass to re-setup 2 dozen or so hotkeys and countless other configurations.
It is work. I forgot to save my hotkeys last time, but remembered all the other stuff! That is why it is cool to use a new drive, in case you forgot to save some random setting.

You can save your layout and all will be saved

The point of whats being talked about is to wipe and reset your config file in case its whats bogging down and messing up your system. Which by the way SHOULDN'T be possible. But anyways, to do that means wiping everything and rebuilding your configruation and hotkeys from scratch.

Oh I see yea that takes a lot of time

Only do it when bored on a particular day in a holiday. :D

You won't feel like its a pain in the ass especially if you're watching a good movie on TV at the same time.

Stop using IB charts. Yes they have them but they are slow and data feed not Accurate as they aggregate ticks. Get NinjaTrader (it is super cheap) and you will have no issues even on i5.

IB is great for market access and reliability
But not charge. The inly issue is daily reset, drives me nuts.

Thanks for the reply.
For one chart it might not be an issue, but I run 4 monitors, 24 charts, 2 scanners, newsfeed and watchlist.
Some tickers take a lot of time to load such as APPS/SRNE. Do you see that issue as well? You mind trying to load these tickers for me and see how long it takes for the chart to load them? Would be much appreciated
Let me save you some time. Check your CPU and Memory usage tomorrow in the resources monitor . Do a CRtl Alt Del , Task manager , performance. First check to see how much CPU usage and Memory TWS is using when open , then see what happens when you open different charts change stock symbols , etc etc . If you see heavy usage on the CPU and Memory then you have to much open in TWS and your computer is having issues handling this. I assume you have at least 16 Gigs of Ram . Any less than 16 Gigs is going to be an issue . I have no lag when I open charts for the two symbols you listed , however with the market being closed I doubt that it would. Finally do you still have the same issues with lag when the markets are closed ?? If you don't have any issues then its definitely a resource issue with TWS requiring to much from your computer because of the amount of stuff you have open

Wrong...TWS is ram limited. Doesn't matter if you have 16gb or 128gb...its the same to TWS because the limits are hard coded. Just ask support and they'll tell you the same thing. Its a limitation of Java and the virtual machine TWS runs in.

I will check back tomorrow and get back to you. Yes sometimes TWS opens the chart no problem but other times it says "Attempting to retrieve data" or sometimes the chart loads on some timeframes but it doesn't on others like El_Cubano posted above
