Why? Most trading software doesn't require all that much computing power unless you are running some very sophisticated Algo. If you were running an algo the extra laptops ain't going to help you. You would want a collocated server at the exchange.
Algos are trivial but I also trade in events where I need to stay firmly between the low latency machines I'll never be as fast as and the Excel/hand-based traders I need to always be faster than. I use a Java-based charting application which is a resource hog, and I also use Chrome which is a resource hog. I prefer those be on a second CPU. And I host a NAS for my family which is on a 3rd. I find Dell Latitudes from the Dell Business Outlet store to be insane values. I've had too many consumer-grade desktops and laptops be revealed to be junk. I have 6 Lats now (done with that) and not a one has ever failed over the years. And not once has an Outlet Lat arrived that was anything but brand new, by the way. Not a speck anywhere. I have no idea why they are sold as Outlet.
