Used to read it, but since it does require a fair bit of time to plow through I've stopped subscribing. It's very good, and opinionated - shame I don't have the time to read it anymore. I don't think it would affect global macro view much, although it would of course be an influence.

i agree. the economist is the only news source I read other than some headlines of bloomberg.
