Anyone making money?

Markets have not changed from 1900 to now. Still the same. Maybe its you that has changed or your trading system is no longer valid.

The key is find a system that is not made obsolute by time or by a super computer. Is it out there, yes and it can be traded in any time frame in any market and make money. Its just emotion and capitalisation that decides where and how long you play. Where do you find it ? Well thats the difference I guess. :D

take a break and go back and review all your trades, overlaying them a chart.

use a service like stocktickr.com if necessary. reviewing trades has changed the fortunes of many traders. often one thinks they know what they are doing wrong, but it's often biased by a few trades. research shows few in any profession study their mistakes. it's tough to look in the mirror sometimes, but necessary for improvement and learning.

Quote from Napoleon3:

that is not good enough assessment

some traders after 10 years are filthy rich and doing well

some are broke chasing their own tail

you can\'t say they all end up bums in 10 years

that is true but my point is you can never ever get complacent in this game. The moment you think you "made" it, then KABOOM

If you have not made any money in a year when the markets have trended so strongly you need to take a very careful look at your methodology. It would be hard to characterize the last 12 months as a hard market to trade.

Leave your ego at the door and rip apart why you are not catching the strong wind that have carried others. You have made it work in the past and you can probably do it again but not without looking carefully for the problem.

Quote from IHuman:

Hello guys.

I am an isolated trader who knows nothing of other traders and what they are upto.

I am a prop trader and have been since 1999.

I am slowly coming to a realisation that I can no longer compete with
HFT , computerized trading , automated trading, marketmakers, etc.

Is there any money to be made? If so how?

Or has this game passed me by? I am starting to think so.

I have not made money in nearly one year. I am at my wits end.

Any suggestions?
