Spyglass - I called CAIA and they mentioned that in the past the Level I exam included questions on basic financial instruments (stocks, bonds). The Sept. 2007 exam will focus only on alternative investments as stated in the Study Guide objectives. I am registered for the Sept. 2007 exam.

The sample questions for caia test II look incredibly simple and I curious therefore how serious hedgies would view the designation. Would say Cliff Asness of AQR or the guys at Citadel place any value on it if it were on your resume? [/B]

That is what I am wondering? Is there anyone in that places a value on this designation, or id the CFA the only designation that has value. I think in 5+ years the CAIA will be more mainstream and a more difficult test.

I too am a CFA holder and my initial sense about that is they left the bar too low in terms of exam difficulty, especially the derivatives and quant side of the exams (this was more than 10 yrs ago that I took it).
