Anyone here bought a motorcycle lately?

I'm probably not searching right, but I can't find any info on dealer costs for these bikes. Is it really that top secret that you can only get it by paying for it?

The thing about bikes is that dealer cost is weird. It depends heavily on the size of pre-orders the dealer makes.

Not customer pre orders but what the dealer orders to put on the floor next year.

Then the dealer ges end of the season "bonus" money for the units they actually sell. I am not sure if they return the held overs or not.

But it could be next to impossible to find a true dealer cost because they vary.

Ok, maybe that's the problem. I'd think there would still be a rough number floating around the internet, but I guess not. The place with the Ninjas has quite a few '08s of various models, and the same with Hondas, including a few '07 919's. THey seem to have come off the new price alot, and it would be nice to know if I could work it for a little more.

What a crock of horseshit. You and stock_turdler are the last people on the planet who would even know how to ride a motorbike.

Do you know that we know you're a bullshitter or do you actually think that someone here might believe you bought that bike?

Looked at the Buell 1125R, and I like it. There were V-Rod's there also, and I like the Buell better. I'd take a V-Rod though if you want to get rid of it. :D Post a picture of that V-Rod Kill!

Dang, went and looked at BMW's for the heck of it and looked at used also. They have a 2003 F650 CS with ABS and heated grips that I liked. Single cylinder machine, but I probably won't be doing many trips and the ones I do will be ~300-350 miles so I think it could handle it. The new ones were sweet , but for ~ $4800 I may save some cash and go used. The single cylinder concept seems odd, but they've been doing it forever so it must work. I like the idea of ABS also. Had my share of "interesting" stops in the past that would have been helped by ABS.

single cyl is a torque monster..
buy! buy! buy!
good luck sir
also the testing on those things. brutal.just brutal.

I've looked at the BMW bikes, but they are fairly expensive and don't seem to want to budge this year, unlike the other brands. Was thinking about a used one I saw advertised, but it had a lot of miles. The guy kept it up beautifully, but too many miles for me.

I'd avoid used. Maintenance is expensive on bikes, particularly compared to the cost of the bike. A deal on an unsold '08 sounds like the way to go, if you don't have to have the latest thing.

Buells are pretty cool, but I have to wonder if they have solved all the reliability problems. At one time they were notorious for things breaking,e tc.
