Why do you think salesmen wear Rolex watches and white shirts. Appearances count. People make connections and deduce. Whether you like it or not.

Are you trying to be funny? A person would have to be incredibly naïve
to allow someone's watch attire to influence their decision to buy.

If appearances matter according to your myopic view, some on this
Forum might deduce you as a clueless cunt, who expends useless
amounts of time and energy denigrating other Forum participants.

By appearances of past postings they might deduce a lonely bitter hag
with insecurity issues and narcissistic behavioral traits living a miserable
existence until one seeks professional help.

He's talking about one's appearance and the effort that goes into it. It's not just the watch, it's the haircut, the suit, the car, the attitude, the personality, the cleanliness (hygiene) of him, and more. When you're buying something from someone you want a person who seems to have his/her act together. If you don't think this is the case, go try buying something from someone who looks like they have a "I don't care about the world" mentality. Generally laziness in one's appearance crosses over to other areas of life, namely the product they are selling or the service they provide.

He was using the watch as an example of taking pride in one's appearance but the watch itself doesn't matter.

Yes, but some people just don't care. Maybe the price is lower (and not some monthly sub) because he needs a slight barrier to entry but doesn't really care about the money? Not defending the guy at all.

When I was a kid I worked across the street from a Ferari dealership (not at, but across from) at a Pizza joint. I'd watch all sorts of homeless looking people walk in and check out cars. Maybe the really rich dress differently and act different because they no longer have anything to prove?

I would agree, however, wouldn't you agree that a paid community (with even a small barrier of entry) would be better than a free community? Could you imagine the amount of Reddit garbage that would come into a trading community if it were free?

People ARE naive. A brand watch is pretty much the first thing any sales trader or salesperson for that matter buys from their first bonus/commission. Dress to impress. It sells. But you probably already know that a majority even in middle or upper management are easily fooled.

Sure, and I don't mind honest salesmanship. But most of those individuals are liars and cheaters who never made a dime trading,... Ever. Anyone whom I would not toss in the trashbin right away better show an audited track record. That at least would open the door.

I have a guy on YouTube right now that is offering to show me an audited track record over email, but wants me to send mine first. Not sure why he wouldn't post this on his website to begin with. Not sure if he's just trying to get my name or not. Smells of bullshit. Not sure what is wrong with these people.

In virtually EVERY other industry are only those trusted who provide a proven track record. Lawyers, doctors, teachers, engineers, architects, artists, musicians, actors all have to provide references and showcase their portfolios before anyone talks to them. Heck, even renters.

Only in the financial industry are there that many naive and desperate people that they accept all sorts of excuses by sharlatans to forgo a basic smell test. Poor people who heard of the very few who made it are so clouded in their judgement, so desperate to get a piece of the cake that you can feed them any kind of excuses and they take it without hesitation. Hope is one of the biggest enemies of investing and trading and yet for most novice and unsuccessful retail punters its almost the only existing emotion that drives everything.
