Anyone ever try John Carter's (Mastering the Trade) strategies?

Quote from hayman:

The book was an easy read, with lots of good examples. However, I could never get any of his stuff to work via backtesting or live simualted trading. I then read his book a 2nd time more thoroughly and found many flaws and contradictions. I Emailed him many times for clarifications, and never heard from him.

LOL :p

The book is a good advertisement for his other services and for his persona as a trading guru.

As for its value for how to trade the e-minis, there is very little there that works.

Send Rosa, his assistant, your credit card information and you should get a reply. :D

Trading strategies when you don't have a
lot of screen time is a recipe for disaster.
I have his book and DVD course, but just trading
these strategies would be financial suicide.

John I am sure knows that. He is making
a lot of money off of traders with his books,
indicators, seminars, and trading room.

I just wish there were more people like Anek
or jjrvat who teaches price action. IMO all this
indicator and strategies stuff can only
come after understanding price action.

it is so wierd how much ca$h it takes to realise that in trading, more than anyother field in the world, the following is true:

those who can do, those who can't teach.

Any book, cd, dvd, webinar, trading room, anything at all that transfers cash from your account to someone else is designed just to do that, get your cash! these "things" are not designed to teach you how to make money. that would occur as a fooled-by-randomness type fluke. these "things" are designed to make their creators money.

what could be clearer?

That could be one of the most important thoughts ever posted on this site.

Most books that talk about technical analysis leave out the very important prerequisite that step one is understanding price action.

uh, linda raschke
None of her "stuff" ever worked after extensive backtesting.
One trader I knew, lost his entire account trying her stuff live.
