Bought this monitor back in Aug w/the $100 rebate. This is my phone conversation w/the Panacer rebate dept rep about an hour ago, pretty much verbatim, I swear:
Panacer: Hello?
Me: Yes, I'm calling I'm about my rebate for my GEM monitor. I called you 6 wks ago and was told the check would be mailed w/in a week. My name is ------.
Panacer: Yes. Your check will be mailed next week.
Me: That's exactly what you told me last time, sir. That was 6 wks ago.
Panacer: The mail was delayed because of the holidays.
Me: For 6 wks? That's ridiculous. I was supposed to receive this rebate after 4 months. It's been 6 months.
Panacer: Well, I can mail you the check today but it won't be signed.
(Pause.)
Me: Pardon me?
Panacer: I'll mail you the check today but it won't be signed.
Me: Are you kidding me?
Panacer: No.
Me: What is the point of sending me an unsigned check? It's no good.
Panacer: You said you want the check today, I'll send it to you today.
Me: Man, I'm not interested in playing games w/you, buddy. Let me speak to someone in charge.
Panacer: I'm in charge of rebates, sir.
Me: Then let me speak to the next higher authority, whatever. I've already been thru all this w/you last time I called and you told me the same thing you're telling me now - that the check will be mailed next Fri. And it obviously wasn't because here I am calling you again.
Panacer: You spoke to me last time you called?
Me: Yes.
Panacer: How do you know it was me? What's my name?
Me: Lemme speak to someone in charge, please.
Panacer: How do you know you spoke to me last time? What is my name?
Me: Pal, you're nuts. Lemme speak to your supervisor.
Panacer: I'm the supervisor of rebates, sir.
Me: Then let me speak to the sales supervisor.
He hangs up on me. After calling 6 or 7 more times I finally get a supervisor who says she will put the check in the mail today or tomorrow. We'll see...
