Hgtrader,

Interesting. But I don't think anyone was "picking" stocks as in recommending them for long term purchase.

The thread was about stocks with large intraday movement.

A couple of additions....

DCAI DSTI MNTA

Again, just listing stocks with good movement during the day.

Wow - you greatly misunderstand. I could care less what it has done over X days. I trade them intraday.

I understood that this thread was about "Picking" the stocks that one considered to be highly volatile.

I wasn't suggesting that there was a contest involved, I wasn't stating that the "picker's" would be invested in their picks long-term or otherwise.

These are the significant observations I would be making from the stats in my prior post:

A) in a non-volatile market......a portfolio of the most highly traded stocks had just as insignificant results as the market itself

B) in a non-volatile market.....a portfolio of elitetrader selected HIGHLY VOLATILE stocks....had no better results then the mega-volume stocks, and being just as flat as the market itself

C) while the mega-traded stocks had quite low volatility in this type of market(only 1 of the 7 moved more then 5% in a month)... the HIGHLY VOLATILE stocks on the otherhand--despite the flat overall results--remained true to form, following a period of volatility with even more volatility(with 8 of the 11 of these picked stocks moving more then 9%, and half of those 8 each moved about 20% in those 4 weeks.)

Brian.
