Any tips about day trading using IB?

Use lightspeed with another chart provider. Take your pick of the chart provider you like, they all have pros and cons. IB is the jack of all trades but the expert at nothing. They offer everything but are truly good at none of them.

If you have a way to get Goldman Sachs' RediPlus platform that is the ultimate platform IMO. Lightspeed is very fast, but in some markets with spikes in volume there can be some latentcy. Still, LightSpeed offers the best available to most retail day traders in equities.

cant you use redi through Lightspeed?
 
In the IB chart parameters box, after I checked the box for "update line chart every 1 second" my charts really sped up. But I don't trade from the charts...just use the line charts for reference and they are fine for me. Stosh
