Any Tactical Shooters Out There?

I saw something that I am interested in, it is called tactical shooting. Basically it's a police-like shooting range with targets popping up, having to go through doors, etc.

Anyone do this? What caliber handgun? .22, 9 mm, etc?

Any tips for getting started?
 
Do a lot of fast point shooting practice before wasting your time and money at a Tac course. When you're walking the course, you won't usually have time to do classic aiming. You'll need to be able to do friend-foe recognition quickly, decide whether to fire, and then hit the target all in one quick motion (at least that's the way the police tac courses are that I've been on).
