Any other non-US (UK based) clients using AMP

should be almost instant

make sure you did it right as the first time i did it i made a mistake and it ended up with the funds being rturned

also make sure your Uk account is in YOUR NAME as they will not take money sent through third parties eg TRANSFERWISE for money laundering purposes
 
Thanks for the replies. I have spoken to the bank and they said the transfers take 3-5 working days, and that upon checking there were no problems with the transfer. They asked me to give it a couple more days. Frustrating when you can do instant transfers domestically.
 
The money has now been returned to me, and they have given no reason why. Apparently someone is going to call me tomorrow. Incredibly frustrating, and I think it is my bank that is letting me down - nothing to do with AMP.
 
So you had to fund it in USD? If I do that I am going to lose out on the exchange rate I have noticed. The bank charge a huge spread on the buy and sell, that is why I wanted to stick to GBP.
 
chuckie i had same problem as you and didnt work out a way to do it - if you do work out a way let me know !!!!
ended up sending GBP to USD and having to pay a fee and lost out on exchange rate
 
I will let you know how I get on. I have started thinking about an alternative to AMP. I still have an IB account which I haven't used for a long time but is still active. I can fund that with GBP no problem, and use it with Sierra charts I believe. What I am after is a decent order entry screen along the lines of Ninjatrader. I don't think IB have anything like that, whereas AMP do. Any suggestions?
 
No UK bank will let you send a SWIFT payment to AMP's Sterling account (reason is... AMP's Sterling account is in the UK and the only way to put money into it is via BACS - and that won't work because if you try that the payment will not have the correct routing information on it to ensure AMP receive payment on their end).

So yes, you have to fund it in USD and that means paying the currency charges. Not great. I can however vouch for it being fast - credits happen same day for me in most cases.

Do AMP notify you by email as soon as they have credited your account, or do you only find out they have received the funds when you get your daily AMP statement?
