very few traders that do earn that kind of money per day trading their own funds

Depends on how big your account is and what type of strategy you are employing. It's easy to make 20k/day in theta and spend 1/2 of it in gamma with a 15MM portfolio.

why you ask? just curious..you can make 5K per day trading literally anything. from trading $1 stocks with 10K average volume to selling used books..however-it doesn't mean that you can do same. so-why you are asking?
 
I know a trader that has a lot of 5 digits days, some occasional 6 digit days, and very rare 7 digit days but not all days are positive. The losing days range from 4 digits to as big as 6 digits.

Mostly doing Forex and Futures and is for the most part a swing trader, not a scalper.

Yes it's impossible to make that much money. That's why everyone who ever stepped foot on Wall Street goes home to his/her $10k home in Mississippi.
