Any experience hiring office space as a lone trader? Worth it?

I think it depends on your personality. Some people need social interaction; some don't.

To add on to Steve Alexander's post, lots of online interaction these days can be done without leaving home. To OP, why waste the money renting an office if social interaction is what you want? Forums like elitetraders are free.

A better reason would be to look respectable. Working from home makes one look like a jobless loser. Working from office makes one look gainfully employed.

I agree with your logic. However, human psychology is not logical all the time. Paying to look respectable is not financially rational for one-man-show traders but it boosts their ego. Nobody wants to look like a jobless loser. So, perhaps looking good will make them feel good which in turns improve trading profits? Hard to quantify that effect.

Doesn't make sense unless I can have three huge HD monitors set up, and superior connectivity of some kind (dedicated line, redundant connections, etc.)

I have to watch bonds, indexes, news feeds, and have three different charting software going.

How would I do this in some kind of casual office or open public area....not possible.

I had a Regus "membership" a few years ago for space in the USA. I traveled/migrated between multiple states, and it worked for me at the time. A quick check a moment ago shows they have several locations in Oslo, but I do not know anything about the plans offered for them.

Ultimately, I decided it did not augment my trading, but it did produce a form of legitimacy to being a trader in social settings. fwiw, I met many non-trading people/businesses, but no other traders.
