I have been running an old Pentium 4 at 2.60 GHz with an 800 front side bus and 512 kbs of L-2 cache on Windoes XP with surprisingly good results, remotely.
Should be receiving a new Dell with an Intel Duo-Core at 3.00 GHz with a 1333 front side bus and 4 MBs of L-2 cache early next wek.
(Picked one up real cheap on the Dell Business Outlet site.)
The bottom line is that with 60-80,000 quote updates per SECOND in the marketplace . . . I really think that we now need faster processors and as much L-2 cache as you can get your hands on!
Here's hoping to Assent building and testing out that new "multi-cast" network to ARCA ASAP.
Good Luck to All.
