Back then, those posses out-manned the villains. How well would your posse do in NY, or Chicago? Better, or worse than the police are doing?

And what happens when your "highly trained" posse kills a bystander, or anyone for that matter?

Is your posse willing to put their family at risk by playing cowboys and Indians? What's the plan when they identify where you and your relatives live?

"Defunding the police" -- means that enforcing the "law" will be privatized. Either people will band together to hire armed private security which have no limits on immediately using deadly force to protect property or people. Or people will arm and organize themselves (aka "posse"). Cities that "defund the police" and fail to allow citizens to protect themselves will quickly find everyone except for criminals & the very poor leaving the cities permanently.

Basically "defunding the police" is the most idiotic idea ever put forward in recent decades.

No, defunding the police incentivizes enforcing laws that actually matter, not catering to prison, defense & bail bond lobbies that want to lock up every weed smoker, loiterer, homeless person, protester or refugee.

Just to clarify the bullshit message being pushed, Biden said in that last interview that he does not support any measures to defund police and said that it is the opposite, they need more training, more resources and more support to remove the bad cops, improve training to stop needless use of force and provide more support services for situations that do no require police beyond initial assessment.

Cool place with a particularly diverse mix of people. Great hiking, biking, and along the Columbia River and other major rivers. Worth visting, even living, if you like the scene there.
