ANTI-WAR/USA BASHERS: WHERE ARE YOU NOW, MFERS?!?!

Quote from KymarFye:
I don't claim to be an expert on China, but I don't really agree that the Chinese government in its current form is quite as bad as the Iraqi government.

if, hypothetically, the only way to liberate the Chinese people was through a military invasion- in a way that would cause less harm to the Chinese then merely letting the status quo continue, and would eliminate real risks that some aggressive Chinese posture posed toward the world generally and the U.S. in particular - and the US government had satisfactorily explained its reasons and objectives, then you wouldn't find me out marching against it.

ok. I disagree, but thanks for your clarity and honest answer.

as for china vs. iraq - neither am I an expert by any stretch, and base my post on only media-reported information. from that, I can only conclude that they are both at least repressive, with the severity and scope of their abuses fluctuating depending on the agenda of the media outlet conveying the story. I only used china as an extreme example, there may be more suitable countries for comparison.

I invite you to read my post a few pages back, if you haven't done so. Too much China bashing here in the U. S. The truth of the matter is that China is undergoing a peaceful transformation to a modern capitalist state. It takes time to change. You are talking about 1.2+ billion people.

Quote from dotslashfuture:

yeah Ice, we aren't saying you can't speak, we are saying speak up and take the punishment that is coming to you. You all speak out against the war, talk of massive casualties, etc. and then you RUN AWAY.

Any of you got the balls to admit you were wrong ?

I heard a saying last night on CNN that said, being on the Left means that you never have to say you are sorry. Seems to be so very true. But than again it is good to have some worst case scenarios brought up so we do not under estimate our opponents.

I have to admit that the War has gone better than I expected. Although it is far from over as far as what casualties lie ahead so far it has been viewed as a huge success even by anti-war media and anti-american media as well. Watching the faces of some of the Iraqi people is priceless to say the least.....My concerns were over soldier casualty and the cost of War and retructuring a nation....After reading an article in Time Magzine which stated that the cost of WWII was $2.3 trillion dollars or 20k roughly per us citizen at the time, makes $80 billion seem like a drop in the bucket and the casualty has been small ( I know it is huge if the casualty affected your life, so I apologize ahead of time if it has in fact affected you in any way )......peace

P.S. Im not on the left nor am I to the right... I am dead smack where I need to be, front and center....so keep ur political bullshit to yourselves....

Quote from stockoptionist:

That is another strident example of the pathetic ignorance about other countries. How much do you really know about China? China is in fact going capitalist, and its citizens have far more freedoms today than it was ten years ago.
You are poisoned by the mainline media here in the States with their lopsided, sensational reporting. BBC does a far better job in terms of impartial reporting.

I generally agree with this, as I said above, aside from the label of "pathetic."

I don't know if china is going capitalist or not. all you offer is your own opinion, which, while surely above the pathetic, is still opinion.

dude, chill. i'm the biggest supporter of free speech there is. of course people have the right to disagree with me. i only put "mfers" in the thread title to get people (like you) going. after i started the thread, i actually went back and edited "mfers" out because i knew some people (like you) would take me too seriously. look back at my orignal post, "mfers" isn't in the subject. i couldn't edit it out of the thread title though. relax, man..

FRuiTY

good... keep it that way! Then we'll let you live in the USA rather than deporting you to China. etc.!

(I did see you tried to edit it b.t.w)

Political views aside. You were still wrong. Being wrong is what it is. If you were a man you would stand front and center and say I WAS WRONG and thats it instead you change the subject.

Quote from aphexcoil:

Its ok if they starve now because it is China's problem -- not ours. As soon as you march an army in there, you're assigned the responsibility of making sure that country's population is fed and treated humanely. Why would the United States attempt to tackle such a huge logistics nightmare?

Iraq is a totally different situation than China. You can't just say, "These people are oppressed and so are these" and assume the two are identical.

isn't this what the anti-administration side said?

as for comparison - if one swallows the one-dimensional fox-news spin that this operation was to execute liberation and dancing in the street at any cost, then china is next in line. if it is not, a closer look at the differences is necessary, which may lead to difficult questions.

Where was I wrong?? please go back and read the post were u think I was wrong. How did I change the subject?? Looking back doesnt make me wrong ( as you may very well know hindsight is 20/20 ); do you consider being stopped out of a trade as being wrong on that trade, I think not, if not you have a long journey ahead of you as far as trading is concerned. I didnt want our soldiers fighting a lie, period. I am very happy about how things turned out, but it doesnt make my feeling about going to War wrong. So I ask you one more time where was I wrong???

This War may in fact not be a success when we look back at it 50 years from now..It has opened the doors for other Countries to do what we have done, change a regime because we wanted to.......What will we say to China if they decide to change the regime ( Chavez ) in lets say Venezuela ( OIL ) without UN apporval...What can we say...NADA, ZILCHO...peace

Well, no, not exactly. You can just do what the US has always done. Turn the knob on the spin machine on HIGH, dazzle the crowd with some fancy footwork, and wallah, you've successfully disguised the fact that there is one set of rules for the US, and another set for everybody else.
