Anti-Crime Activist Shot Dead Following Thanksgiving Dinner

I believe that what the 'right wing' tabloid is trying to convey is that it doesn't make sense to prevent lawful citizens from acquiring weapons for self-defense if criminals can and do get weapons to commit crimes. Of course, we could write a law that would prevent criminals from getting guns, but that would be too obvious...

We can pass a law that tracks guns after the purchase that will ensure guns stay with their owners.

You are not very good at this and a poor advocate for gun rights people.

My original beef is with the article and it’s political agenda to promote concealed carry. I asked the question of why are they jumping to concealed carry without asking how the criminal got the gun in the first place.

There have always been and will always be violent people, regardless of the law. Limiting their access to guns will save lives, lots of them. We should focus on stopping criminals from getting guns instead of accepting it as a fact of life so smith and Wesson can manufacturer an extra amount every year. Or, let me guess you don’t have any “data” on that?

So how would you stop criminals from getting access to guns? As always, when I ask this question I get silence in answer.

Oh really? What about guns seized that make it back on the street (this happens all the time at local police seizure). Not to mention there are already millions of guns on the street illegally. How would you get those?

How about the hundreds of millions of legally owned guns on the street now? You're going to somehow ensure they are all registered? How?

Th negligence ultimately lies with the owner/lawful purchaser..

Liability goes to the bar owner or the gun seller in the circumstances that I outlined where they were they acted unlawfully or negligently and it can be established. "Ultimately" is neither here nor there. The fact that the one who committed the crime has liability does not absolve others who may liability.

I am not a gun rights advocate and I wish there were less guns on the streets. I just find it maddening that you ignore the car jacking aspect of this crime and only focus on the gun. I will be happy to supply you with car jacking data.

Here is some car jacking data from wikipedia. Care to explain the distribution skew here?

"56% of carjackers were identified by victims as black, 21% white, 16% Asian or Native American, and 7% mixed race or unknown.[20] Some 93% of carjackings occurred in urban areas."

We are going to talk about data on the ENTIRE CRIME, not just the tools of violence. I have presented this data to you, what is your response?

My response is car jacking is a terrible crime and should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. Same thing for murder.

But, I’m going to go out on a limb and say we all agree with that. My issue was with Breitbart pushing a political agenda irresponsibly.

Pushing a political agenda irresponsibly or just invoking common sense. You decide.

I wonder what your thoughts are on 'pushing a political agenda irresponsibly' when it comes to CNN and WAPO.

So the next time someone on the Left is angry at Republicans after then next mass shooting or urban carjacking murder; would a response like: "Illegal Gun Sales is a terrible crime and should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law" be sufficient?

Your actions with Guns and Gun Violence seem to be preventative in nature. After showing you carjacking data you seem to wish to gloss over things with a "non-response" response.

Would the preventative solution to 56% of carjackings happening by African Americans simply be to never drive by an African American?

You seem to have many thoughts and ideas on the prevention of future actions that involve guns, any preventative thoughts on carjackings and the data I have shared?

Maybe, maybe not. There’s still questions to ask about these issues such as, are the laws actually working? If guns and bats are the same, why do mass murderers choose guns so often? Why are guns so easy for criminals to get? Why are the right wingers so focused on conceal carry rather than stopping criminals from getting guns? Why did you bring up race when the issue was about illegal guns? There’s a lot more to consider than just a broad statement.

Also, what does this have to do with the snowflakes over at Breitbart pushing concealed carry?
