A big problem people underestimate is that police are not paid enough in many states and that low salary does not attract the best people for a rather dangerous job.

1. all police officers should have a college degree. Cut out the legacy recruits and wannabe tough guys

2. America needs to recognize gun safety laws actually helps law enforcement officers

Why would we isolate the cities from the whole state? What’s the point? Gun laws and police salaries (civil servants) are statewide, at least here It’s more honest to look at the whole.

Because if your argument that NJ is low because of police officer pay and quality, then this should hold true in the urban environments as well, right? You would see this play out in Newark, or Camden. Unless you're saying the cops there are much lower quality and paid poorly.

That’s up to you then. Like I said I will be glad to see what you got beyond an opinion. It would be interesting if you controlled for gun violence across all regional types ie rural, suburban and urban.

You link to a Forbes article that shows how much police officers make in every state, and offer an opinion that this is the reason gun violence is so low in NJ. So yeah, you're in the opinion business as well. Unless you're holding back on some study that links the two.

I'm more of the mind that salaries are related more to a cost of living. Does NJ have less fires because firefighters are paid more in NJ vs. other locales?

What about doctor's salaries? Higher in NJ vs., say, Oklahoma should mean less ER visits in NJ, right?
