A North Carolina State Highway Patrol trooper was sentenced to three years in prison after pleading guilty to charges related to dealing firearms without a license.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation accused Timothy Jay Norman, 47, from Browns Summit, of selling firearms to various people, including a convicted felon, while he was employed as a state trooper.

He used the convicted felon as a "middle man," according to the FBI, to distribute decommissioned NCSHP service weapons.

A confidential source purchased a gun from Norman, which is how he was eventually caught, the U.S. Department of Justice said in a release.

Among the guns illegally distributed were semi-automatic rifles.

During a search of Norman's home, federal agents seized over 50 firearms and thousands of rounds of ammunition.

Norman was sentenced to three years in prison, ordered to pay a $15,000 fine and will face three years of supervised release once released from prison.

It's not just police doing such...its state troopers and military soldiers transporting weapons (illegal weapons) to other states including it being a common route to get weapons into cities like Chicago.

In fact, gangs in Chicago have been getting their guns and assault weapons from states like Indiana and Kentucky with the help of military soldiers...something that has been occurring since the 70s...still occurring.

No. The challenge is not mine to get you to the table, there really is no table. We should not be negotiating over protecting children from being massacred. And FYI, “reasonable person” is a legal standard. Theoretically anyone can argue reasonableness. For instance, we can argue whether or not nuclear weapons are reasonable for a person to possess under the second amendment because technically it’s an arm but of course it’s not reasonable on its face. But you’ll argue anything because as I have been telling you, you’re unaffected by the massacre of children.

As I told you below, you believe in lies and you use those lies to justify the continued massacres of children and adults. You’ve created this whole world in your head that reasonable gun safety laws means “take away everyone’s guns.” It doesn’t.

My take on you is that you are filled with lies and unfounded fear that reasonable gun laws won’t work and that they will somehow take away your guns. Now I don’t know if you are a walking “red flag” or if your ability to analyze readily available information and studies is below comprehension either. So I can’t fully say you will be able to keep your guns or understand the impact of the proposed laws. But for the vast majority of gun owners most of the proposed laws will have no impact on their lives other than minor or inconvenient burdens. Otherwise known as reasonable.

Like I said, the first step for you is to try to fully process the horror of it all. I think once you actually internalize how unregulated guns leads to horrors and suffering on a scale to the point people’s and children’s dead bodies aren’t even recognizable to their families then you will have some clarity. Guns aren't unregulated. That's your first problem. And if saying so makes me "sick" in your eyes, so what? Truth is hard to accept to the emotionally compromised.

Could regulations be improved? Of course. I've said many times now that I'm all for increasing the age, and working common sense laws. Yours aren't common sense (I refer you to your suggestion of "give 4th graders a gun").

Posts threatening to go after her family, revealing her home address, etc. on Twitter are suddenly not considered threatening to you. Yep... there are all sorts of idiots on Twitter -- to the point where they cannot take down the reported posts quick enough you can still find some.
