Another school shooting

Half-baked money hungry politicians are a big part of the problem.

Florida state GOP lawmaker threatens to show Biden 'why the Second Amendment was written'

In the wake of the school shooting in Uvalde, Texas, that left at least 19 students and two teachers dead, one Florida lawmaker took to Twitter and sent a veiled threat to President Joe Biden, should he take action on guns.

"I have news for the embarrassment that claims to be our President — try to take our guns and you’ll learn why the Second Amendment was written in the first place," Florida GOP Rep. Randy Fine wrote.

This is not the first time that Fine has drawn controversy, as he once referred to Palestinians as "animals" and called a fellow Jewish man a "Judenrat" when he criticized the Israeli government's policies under then-Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

I'm all for it. I've said before that I believe the age should be 23 or even higher. As for no background check - where did he get the gun? I only ask because any gun I purchase is run through a background check.

this is all that needs to happen... all parties come togther and say "let's trace every step of how this kid got guns and if we find holes and lax regulation let's fix it, enforce it.

Instead we get:

Dems: We need major gun control and remove all guns!
GOP: You are not touching my guns and I am voting down anything!

and Texas saying any incidental minor teensy weeny little bother that stands between me and a gun is verboten! yet they are ok with licenses for hundreds of other meaningless and less dangerous activities.

and then we have to listen ted cruz with his vagina mouth comments

His statement should be construed as a threat of violence and dealt with accordingly.

No one of importance wants all guns banned..... but no way people need unchecked access to AR-15s

the problem - as usual - is the extreme on both sides of the argument. Just like abortion or any other issue. One side takes an extreme stance, the other then digs in their heels and takes an extreme stance. "No abortion" vs. "abortion up to birth" leads to no agreement.

"No guns" leads to "guns for everyone, on demand", leads to no agreement.

We'll never get anything accomplished because we're being driven against each other by the media and state.

since it helps both sides get elected, I dont see it ever changing. Too easy an issue to keep voters scared and voting red or blue :(

The NRA Is Banning Guns for Trump's Appearance at Its Upcoming Convention
The organization that lobbies for laws that make it easy for anyone to carry a gun does not want anyone carrying a gun to their own event, oddly.

You can have your gun at other events during the three-day convention; but if you attend the forum with Trump, NRA’s Executive Vice President, NRA-ILA’s Executive Director, and “our nation’s top Second Amendment supporters,” per NRA’s event announcement, then you will be prohibited from exercising your God-given, Second Amendment right to bear arms.

Because there are so many crazies that want to take Trump out?

Trump Signs Bill Revoking Obama-Era Gun Checks for People With Mental Illnesses
The new law nullifies an Obama-backed rule that added people with mental illnesses to the national background check database.

President Donald Trump quietly signed a bill into law Tuesday rolling back an Obama-era regulation that made it harder for people with mental illnesses to purchase a gun.

The rule, which was finalized in December, added people receiving Social Security checks for mental illnesses and people deemed unfit to handle their own financial affairs to the national background check database.

Had the rule fully taken effect, the Obama administration predicted it would have added about 75,000 names to that database.

President Barack Obama recommended the now-nullified regulation in a 2013 memo following the mass shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School, which left 20 first graders and six others dead. The measure sought to block some people with severe mental health problems from buying guns.

The original rule was hotly contested by gun rights advocates who said it infringed on Americans’ Second Amendment rights. Gun control advocates, however, praised the rule for curbing the availability of firearms to those who may not use them with the right intentions.

Well this isn't good.
