Look at James Bond and the cartoonish portrayal of evil. Evil is always cartoonish in movies for the masses

But that's exactly what terrorism does. Because one guy can kill hundreds to thousands it has a multiplier effect in fear. I think americans do overreact in the wrong ways.

The ineffectiveness of bin laden after 9-11 is because of our reaction, not because suddenly they got dumber. Saudi Arabia feared him so much in 1991 that they dared not imprison him, his following was violent. The rumor is they actually paid him not to attack the kingdom, or at least allowed financing to go on unfettered.

This new guy fits the mold. He was educated, well off economically, and not directly harmed by Americans in any way. In short he was filled with hate in a way only Islam can manage it seems. His own father was alarmed.
