Why would it make a difference? And how do you know?Btw, the kid was Hispanic which may make a difference in the intensity of the "protests".

He was guilty of sneaking out of the house. No kid has ever done that before. Was he an innocent little boy?
Let me guess, you know this because he was Latino, and lived in Chicago. Had he been a White kid, in your neighborhood, then he wouldn't necessary had been a gang banger.Thirteen is plenty old enough in the hood to be in a gang and that's why he was out running the streets at 2 in the morning
Source? That's why he had procession of a gun.

Relax Nancy. The quote I responded to questioned the kid's innocence. What was he guilty of? Sneaking out of the house? Or has there been evidence presented that he was guilty of something other than what a lot of kids do?A. With a 21 year old felon who had a gun. Yeah, seems like simply sneaking out of the house. WTF.
You live on his block?B. Yes simple deductive reasoning. Crime riddled area with gangbangers galore, who are mostly Hispanic and he was hanging with an Hispanic felon. To conclude differently would just be dumb.
As others have also stated, I didn't see him with a gun. Did you?C. Bodycam video along with other video evidence.
As I stated in a earlier post I was watching local news yesterday evening, ABC Chicago to be exact. They were showing video footage, not just of the shooting itself. The footage clearly showed the kid and his adult companion firing a weapon, 8 shots to be exact. It is not known exactly what they were firing at. Police rolled up a couple minutes later and the chase began. This is not body cam video, but street surveillance video which pretty much covers every square inch of Chicago. The kid was carrying the gun in his right hand. Three lawyers were interviewed in the news footage I watched. All three, including the family lawyern concluedc that the kid had a gun while the chase was on. He dumped the gun .8 seconds, (this too on video and acknowledged by all parties) and then turned and was apparently attempting to surrender. The cop reacted quickly in the less than a second he had and fired. Was it too quickly? A jury will decide. He was guilty of sneaking out of the house. No kid has ever done that before.

Been waiting for this. City is in for a rough patch of road

A good question. Yes, it's far too easy for a kid to get his hands on a gun. Lots of laws on the book already which are completely ignored. It's complicated and it's not just the availability of guns. It's also the environment these kids grow up in. The lure of the gang is waiting around every corner. It's enticing for young people who see a bleak future for themselves. Gang recruitment starts early, like really early, 6, 7 years old. By their teenage years these are some hard ass MF'ers and deadly as hell. There's plenty of blame to go around with no easy solution, no quick fix. I feel sorry for the kid regardless. His destiny was set from birth. People say choices have consequences. To say he, or they "choose" this life is a gross over simplification, but to address your gun question and proposed solution. That too is a gross over simplification. How did a 13 year old get a gun in the first place? Simple...
There’s too many guns in this country.
They are everywhere and there is no accountability from gun manufacturers, no responsibility for purchases.
We are diseased with guns in America.
