Somebody posted here in the last few days that he can't get the price for a calendar spread that he had been getting, so he'll just keep his hands in his pockets and wait. That's the ticket. Ya gotta understand that it's not the calendar spread that makes it a worthwhile play, it's the price at which you can get it.
Good advice to droid and there's nothing you wrote that I disagree with. But IMHO, I don't think of a slightly better fill as a significant edge.

I think selecting the right strategy for the circumstances (timing) to be an edge. A better fill on a calendar is a Pyrrhic victory if the underlying drives a calendar toward parity.
