Come to the UK and work as an independant IT contractor. References and background are rarely checked for contractors, because if you cant do the job or dont fit in you get fired quickly. With 2:1 exchange rate you can earn 150K to 200K US dollars a year as a contractor (even more in the city of london).

The UK is full of Indian migrant workers earning this kind of money.

I have to go with marketbarometer and bluestreek on this one. Prying open the door is only a first step, but it's practically insurmountable for most, esp if they're new at job hunting. What really matters, though, is whether or not one can do the job. But one can't show what he can do until he gets it. So get it. Whether or not one can do the job will become evident very quickly, and if he can't, then all the education and experience in the world aren't going to make the slightest bit of difference.

If you worked in IT part time, just put on your resume that you were a consultant. Always worked for me. If you were incorporated, you could also use your corporation name. No problem if you know your stuff.

actually in this screwed up world.....it doesn`t even matter if you can do the job in a lot of cases.........companies don`t fire people that easily these days....and you see complete idiots in positions they have no business being in.......and they just stay there-----the peter principle at work--people rise to their level of incompetence---unless you have a performance based job----and even then---you see sales people who just take orders---stay on for 5 years--taking those orders---and not really selling.


how could you be a gm for 20 plus years like charlie caserly...and not pick reggie bush or vince young ahead of a defensive lineman.....or atleast get paid like san diego did for giving up/switching picks with atlanta, and the giants======and yet this guy was a gm for over 20 years for 2 organizations--and he has no clue.

if its not your clueless ass getting a paycheck, it will be some other clueless ass---might as well be you.....

since you have been servicing and providing IT consulting to small businesses in the past 4 years, that would definitely be the road to take. you won't be lying or telling the whole truth. tell them that you lost some clients and need to get back to working for an employer for the $$$.

don't even mention trading, you won't even get a call back.

Reason for change: Since 9/11 cost of doing business re liability insurances, taxes, medical has made an uneconomical climate for small business.

Embellish on your own. You've have earned an education trading. Education costs.

Don't write too much. Reason? You want them to ask in the personal interview. Once they find out that you trade stocks whoa, everyone/someone will be jealous and keep you talking for hours (boss has a program trading system he wants you to tweak).

its sad but true, but successful traders are never looking for jobs or out of work, its just where and with whom they want to work; whereas unsuccessful traders (usually undercapitalized to start with) are always looking for jobs where having trader on the resume is tantamount to poker player. as professional poker players are always poker players first and foremost so long as they have a bankroll, same thing with traders, i.e., enron went bk, but that trader had 7mm of trading bonuses, so he started up his own energy trading fund and kicked amarath`s ass with the help of mother nature and no freaking hurricanes when 15 were projected.

bottom line, always tailor your resume to the job you are applying for with regard to previous work experience and training, and leave everything else out as irrelevant---one man`s lying, is another man`s marketing.

If you apply at a public traded company you better know everthing about it. If I was HR the first question would be to any applicant is "What is todays share price?" mnnhh? "Don't know, goodbye."

Tell them you were buying and selling houses, fixing them up and making lots of money. Now the real estate market is slow, you need to find other work and you are reentering the computer field.
