It is clear I underestimated the amount of time that learning to day trade will take, even with my existing knowledge of longer term trading.
in day trading you do not have time on your side.
you may have knowledge of longer term trading but do have a expertise in reading charts? that is critical in day trading.
i have seen many people give fairly accurate price targets-even i do- but no one in my 30 years experience, have even come close to giving a reasonably accurate time target, in which the price will be achieved..
i understand where you are coming from-i too came from the same place.
but today, unlike even 20 years back, you have the technology to entertain your every whim:and you can certainly give day trading a try without risking a dime.... open a demo / sim account.
Trading is complex, but simple and if you can understand certain concepts it is easy:Al Brooks wrote and explained certain things in his book which took me years to understand.
But that does not mean it will take you the same time!
Do entertain yourself ; it is lovely way to spend your time in a productive way.
Do not risk money.
I lose money every day and have lost money for 12 years but i still will not give it up because i need and want to have something to wake up to every morning. Some other reason than my dog that is.
i can afford the losses i make and i have a dream to live.
To me it is a small cost to live a life and do something that i always dreamt of.
You can too.
Just tailor it to your needs and financial and emotional environment in which you live.
