This is NOT spamming. You should get yourself a dictionary.
"Spam takes advantage of the open nature of comments on forums or blogs by repeatedly placing comments to various posts that provide links back to the spammer's web site. Similar attacks are often performed against wikis and guestbooks, both of which accept user contributions."
I insert a link back to my blog when i believe the OP is someone who can benefit from that link. Sometimes it's a continuation of the discussion posed by the OP. I don't see how that's against terms of service.
I do it only when I believe the OP can benefit from what I offer, And the blog is free, so I'm not looking to sell anything.
The main reason you posted the interview was to make it known you have a business, Let others post "your interviews." You are using the classic method as people do when "writing articles" or "getting links." Gaining traffic. As the accidental constant pointing people to your blog:
http://blog.*********.com
I posted the interview for the reasons stated. How can you possibly claim to know why I posted? Is this going to get personal next?
I posted about the interview with Coach Phil because people here know him and I thought they may have an interest in what he had to say. Where's the harm?
"As a regular contributor here, I believe some readers will want to know more about how I view options trading."
As a regular self-promoting person, you mean. You want to be "helpful" then stop undercutting the sponsors, who pay for the privilege. Leave out self-promotions, blog references and trying to be clever by using endorsements by other sites.
I don't see how any sponsor is injured if I refer a reader to my blog. I once posed a link to my book at amazon and was asked not to do that again. And I never did.
But no one associated with ET has suggested that I not post a blog link.
Why do you think the interview was an 'endorsement?' in fact it's pretty obvious that Manshu is not an options fan - or at least wasn't before the interview.
There are lots of people here who manage to regularly contribute without constantly droping hints about their business.
That's because their business is unrelated to options education. These forums are the places where people who want to learn about options congregate. And if anyone likes my answers, it's reasonable to assume that such a person would like the way I provide other information. I don't expect anyone who disagrees with the information in my reply, or the manner in which I express myself to bother seeing what else I have to say.
And I do offer good, helpful advice.
Your opinion. So far, you are mainly seeking to build publicity for yourself.
My opinion? Do you disagree with that opinion? Are your replies 'better'? Do you make an effort to respond to the questions asked? I ask because i don't recognize your name, despite your many posts.
I've been responding to questions on forums such as this for many years, and I've only been blogging for one year.
My purpose is to provide help for those who seek it. Others can provide the same help, but education is often dependent on more than just the answer to the question. It considers the ability of the teacher to use language that makes the student truly grasp the answer,
I have had enough 'thank you' replies over the years to know that my responses have been appreciated more often than not. Just take a look at who doesn't appreciate my posts: putz master. What better endorsement do I need?
I don't understand your problem. If you truly think I am abusing the TOS, then ask the moderators of this forum to do something. I believe I have something to offer to option newbies will continue to post with references, when appropriate. I'm sorry that disappoints you.
Regards,
Mark
