Another Ferguson Cop Under Investigation

This is going to be huge. This cop worked overtime policing the Ferguson riots and he used the extra money to go on a bike trip and stay at a B&B. The horror.

Missouri cop bragged about bonus from Ferguson protests: report

Washington (AFP) - A St Louis County police officer is being investigated after apparently bragging on Facebook about how he spent his "bonus" for working during recent protests in Ferguson, Missouri, the Guardian reported.

The officer, Todd J Bakula, apparently generated extra income while policing protests marking the first anniversary of the police shooting of black teen Michael Brown.

That shooting set off weeks of unrest last year and became one of a series of high-profile deaths calling into question how US police officers interact with black men.

The anniversary protests, initially peaceful, devolved into violence and looting on Sunday night.

In a Facebook posting under the user name TJ Thekoola, Bakula wrote he was "spending my annual Michael Brown bonus on a nice relaxing bicycle ride trip" and staying at a bed and breakfast with his wife, the Guardian said.

St Louis County police spokesman Shawn McGuire told the Guardian that the post was "controversial" and would be investigated by the department.

Bakula did not respond to questions from the newspaper.

It's his money who the shi't should be concerned about how he spends it outside of his family or perhaps creditors?

"Bakula wrote he was 'spending my annual Michael Brown bonus...'"

I hope that is what they named it because that is exactly what it is. And the cops will probably get one each year on the anniversary of Michael Browns death. But it's not the cops fault, it is the crazy rioter and looters fault. There has to be some good that comes out of this crap and apparently this is it.

It's inflammatory and the cop got what he deserved. When you hold a position of public responsibility, keep such opinions to yourself.

That's a little ridiculous. We're not talking about some politician somewhere getting fallout for a highly charged comment.

You (and other democrats) like this stuff because it fits your narrative. But someday when (not if) the pendulum swings the other way, and the attack dogs go after some left wing guy for saying some equivalent comment, you'll be there to tell us "it's a bit out of hand".

Agreed. It's more important than that.

Edit: But, the principle is the same for both sides. I only have the benefit of wildchild scouring the race-based news daily and presenting the one side of the issue.

But the comment was on Facebook. It' not like it was on the front page of the newspaper.
