the only surprise is it was a republican but it was not gay sex. this hypocrite wants to tell everyone else to abstain from all sex until marriage and he couldnt even abstain from sex with another woman while married.


Mark Souder, a Republican congressman from Indiana, has announced that he will resign his seat over an affair with a female aide.

Souder is a former House staffer who was elected to Congress on a "family values" platform in the Republican takeover of 1994.

He won a tough contested primary challenge last week, 48 percent to 33 percent, and his Democratic opponent in the general election, Tom Hayhurst, held Souder to 54% of the vote in 2008.

"I believe that Congress must fight to uphold the traditional values that undergird the strength of our nation," Souder says on his official website. "The family plays a fundamental role in our society... I am committed to preserving traditional marriage, the union of one man and one woman."

Here's a video produced by Rep. Souder's office highlighting the fact that he was "one of the only voices speaking in defense of abstinence education during an April 2008 hearing."

Though, if enough of these types of stories surface, politician's will be held up to greater scrutiny and transparency which in turn could help prevent future spills. You know the present spill has as a culprit, back room lease dealing with politicians and lax government oversight.

Rep. Mark Souder (R-IN) had an affair with a part-time staffer named Tracy Jackson, Fox is reporting. Jackson played the role of interviewer for a Souder Web video show on the issues of the day -- including one on the value of abstinence.

Dubbed "Congressional Update with Congressman Mark Souder," the show hit on issues like intelligent design and fencing the border.

In the November 2009 abstinence video, Jackson introduces Souder this way: "You've been a longtime advocate for abstinence education and in 2006 you had your staff conduct a report entitled 'Abstinence and its Critics' which discredits many claims purveyed by those who oppose abstinence education."
 
He's resigning. Now when is Charlie Rangel or Timmy Geithner going to resign?

What about those who make a platform about the "fairness" of the tax code who violate that code? And their violations are not due to lack of wealth or income, but rather to hide income and increase their wealth. Their actions have a specific fiscal consequence to the United States, in the form of uncollected taxes, in addition to betraying their supposed principals with regard to tax policies. How are they not a worse breed of hypocrite?

At least Rep. Souder has enough shame and remorse to know that he is a hypocrite. Can you say the same for Charlie Rangel? Or is his arrogance regarding his disregard for the rules he wants others to follow somehow acceptable for the greater good. If the ends justify the means for you, then you have to accept that it works the same for those who disagree with you. And you have no right to complain when they engage in similar misconduct.

Description of Straw Man
The Straw Man fallacy is committed when a person simply ignores a person's actual position and substitutes a distorted, exaggerated or misrepresented version of that position. This sort of "reasoning" has the following pattern:


Person A has position X.
Person B presents position Y (which is a distorted version of X).
Person B attacks position Y.
Therefore X is false/incorrect/flawed.
This sort of "reasoning" is fallacious because attacking a distorted version of a position simply does not constitute an attack on the position itself. One might as well expect an attack on a poor drawing of a person to hurt the person.
