seems to me like lack of economy/food shortage/meds/lackluster COVID response. Might as well be protesting US embargos. So just what do you think the Cuban people are protesting?

source? And no, some rado on the street doesn't count, and no, US media pushing a narrative doesn't count. The people are demanding the Castro appointed president step down and the end of a system that has left them in poverty with no food, no medicine, no vaccines and no hope.

Listen, as much as I'd want democracy for the island, this isn't the Arab spring the media is painting it to be. Cuba's only got tourism going for it and COVID did a number on it. If communism's to be abandoned, it'll be from the top, I know not much of the new guy, might be Gorbachevesque.
nice context from that rando. I can play that game:

except no one can make out what they're chanting, and yes I'm fluent. If you claim that you will not believe the "U.S. media narrative" and then you won't believe video directly from Cuba of what the crowd is chanting -- then there is very little we can do to convince you of the facts & the truth. This is an uprising where thousands of Cubans are demanding the Castro-appointed president be removed from office (as per their chants) and and end of the island's government system. The reality is that the Cuban government has now effectively shut down the Internet and will shortly repress the uprising with brutal force (as they did in the past) -- so this uprising has very little chance of success.

I watched al-jazeera, DW, and BBC. They're all pushing that single "libertad" video. Could be anti-lockdown, could be a single or one of few anti-commie protest. The bulk of the protests are austerity/COVID related. Did you know there are anti-gov protests going on in S. Africa right now?I take it you won't like video from CNN, CBS, NBC or many other sources either.
