No, and it's not in the family at all. We all tend to be unrepentant sweet tooths all our lives.
Well my grandfather at 92 but that was because of medication. Prednisone steroid.
Covid likes the pancreas. However over two years I returned to normal.
This was my concern about it in 2020, cumulative damage to internal organs causing early ageing, like malaria which deeply ages people due to the intense fevers.
104F+ fevers are bad.

Prednisone always causes it along with the characteristic 'moon face'. If you saw Only Murders in the Building, Selena Gómez was on prednisone for lupus was it? and had moon face, I'm not sure how long but he was in it for a while. It's an excellent drug for a lot of conditions but in higher doses the face and pre-diabetes happen.
Sorry I edited above after but the unusually high recurring fevers are also probably part of the reason the pancreas takes a hit as well as covid liking to replicate there.

As an aside, I was once prescribed prednisone for about 10 days or so maybe 20 years ago, when I felt my hearing was suddenly impaired. It seemed more than just a normal block that might happen infrequently for one reason or another. The doctor prescribed it to prevent what I believe he referred to as spontaneous deafness or some such. Looking back, I'm wondering if it was really necessary. I don't recall having any consequential symptoms from my brief prescription, nor do I recall the dosage.

Prednisone is an absolutely essential medication, it's often prescribed with ear problems / trauma to prevent perminent tinnitus and deafness. Usually 40+ mg for a week or two. Prednisone is typically in 5mg pills so it will seem like a lot. The small pill size is to do with the need to taper off using it long term (several months/years).
I wish I had used it as an emergency prophylactic when I got tinnitus from bariotrauma. I understand now that it's a combination thing, erustucan tube disfunction, stuffy ears, primes the hearing nerves through mechanical pressure to be damaged.
I'd say you were lucky he put you on it. Moon face returns to normal after a spell. It's only a factor with long term, high dose.
The undiseased pancreas self-repairs fairly well so I'll be fine but I'm confident those who get Covid recurring with fever and I know people who have had it three times now will internally age. I'm going by what I saw in malaria endemic areas of Africa where life expectancy was very low. High fevers are very damaging.

Annnd a fitness coach acquaintance of mine in Brooklyn has it for the first time. He had one J&J vaccine, never went for the booster and is a very ill puppy today.
The world will be better off without him anyway. I told him to get Paxlovid yesterday, today he says he got Ivermectin instead as it was cheaper and his brother swears it worked for him...
