Andy's Day and Position Trading Journal

Dear Traders,

I have made some changes to my trading plan as follows:

Maximal risk 10 ticks per contract even if the 5 min. bar tells me something else.

Time stop: I allow max. 5 minutes until the trade goes into my direction.

I will be very agressive and exit fast if the trade doesn't go into my direction.

I will also include the number of trades on my results below. When I find the time I will add the number of trades also to the last few month.

Euro FX 10 minutes: 7:40am – Long TTE (RH) at 12783, initial stop at 12775 – all out at 12780 (time stop)

Euro FX 5 minutes: 8:10am – Long TTE (RH) at 12800, initial stop at 12790 – covered first lot at 12803 (time stop), second at b/e.

Euro FX 30 minutes: 9:20am – Long TTE (RH) at 12807, initial stop at 12798 – all out at 12804.

Result for today: -9 ticks (-$112.50)

Mini Dow 10 minutes: 8:50am – Short TTE (RH) at 10161, initial stop at 10171 – all out at 10158 (time stop). 9:50am – Short TTE (RH) at 10161, initial stop at 10171 – all out at 10171.

Mini Dow 30 minutes: 9:30am – Long TTE (RH) at 10178, initial stop at 10168 – covered first lot at 10188, second at b/e.

Result for today: -4 ticks (-$20)

Mini Russell 30 minutes: 9:40am – Long TTE (RH) at 5963, initial stop at 5953 – all out at 5957.

Result for today: -12 ticks (-$120)

To be consistent with my recordings I add my monthly summary (hypothetical result due to 2 contracts):

Mini Russell 10 minutes: 9:10am – Short TTE (RH) at 5930, initial stop at 5940 – all out at 5935.

Mini Russell 30 minutes: 2:00am – Long TTE (RH) at 6010, initial stop at 6000 – covered first lot at 6014 (time stop), second at b/e.

Hi Andy-- i'm curious about your time stop on this trade. You stated the trade had 5 min to move in your direction. Looks like your conditions are even stricter than that, as this one moved in your direction but stalled at support. How did you decide to get out (nice exit, BTW)?
 
Sometimes I get out even earlier. I like to see the market moves into my direction immediately after the entry. Whenever the market stops and doesn't want to move closer to my first target I try to get what I can get. Sometimes I am just too slow for that.

I hate to get a losing trade after the market has moved already into my direction.

Some small changes in the trading plan:

- Max. Risk 6 Ticks
- First Target 8 Ticks
- Move to break even after 6 Ticks
- Second Target 16 Ticks
- Time stop 5 minutes

I will change back to the trailing stop for my second lot as soon as the market starts to give me longer trends.

Russell 10 minutes: 1:30am – Long TTE (RH) at 6070, initial stop at 6064 – all out at b/e. 1:40am – Long TTE (RH) at 6075, initial stop at 6069 – all out at 6077 (time stop).

Result for today: +10 ticks (+$100)
