Hi Jacobfx,

I am personaly more used to trade the futures and I also think it's just less expensive. At the moment I have stopped tradint the Euro FX because the market is not moving much. I am just watching it to see when I can start trading it again. I am also running a live chat for day traders and it is easier to watch the Euro FX because everyone on the chat can see the same charts.
Andy what, if any, charting package would you recommend someone use? Do you have any favorites?
As you know at the Forex most charts (depending on your broker) look different.

I trade the mini dow and russell mainly from 8.30am till 10.00am and in the afternoon at around 12.30 till end. It depend on how the markets are moving. Usually it slows down at 10.00am a lot.
Andy the times that you posted I assume that you're talking EST? But I read that you are in Germany so please correct me and my assumption. The live chat that you run is it open to all subscribes?

The advantage in trading futures countracts is you have more markets indipendend from each other. At the beginning of the year I had the best trades in the Euro FX. But it changed at June and the YM and ER were doing great.

Forex is only currencies....that's it. And very expensive also!

Regards,

Andy
Thank you for your answers and your time

Definitely rangebound and perhaps coiling.

Initial Stop: High/Low of the previous 5 minute bar (will trail my stop on the entry)

Targets: First target are 10 ticks.

Trailing Stop: After 8 ticks I move my stop to b/e. I trail my second lot based on the 30/60 minute bars.

Questions:

1- Is your initial stop the exact High/Low of the previous 5-min bar
or is it 1-tick higher/lower than the 5-min bar? And can you tell us
the reasoning behind your decision where to place your stop?

2- You state you "(will trail my stop on the entry) and then you
also say after 8 ticks you move your stop to b/e...? Are you trailing
your stop with an 8-tick increment at entry or ???

3- How do your trail your second lot with the 30/60-min bars?
And is this with the 10-min entries and/or the 30/60-min entries?

4- Have you backtested this setup and are you running it with
an automatic program aka... StrategyRunner, ect.?

5- And will you be trading any RRhooks? And if not, why not?

Sorry if I am asking too many questions... :)

You were short at 301 and out at 310. That arent -18 Ticks.

It's early so I could be still asleep...but I think he bases that on 2 contracts, hence the 18 ticks instead of 9?

Hi Guys,

you are right. All the results are based on a trading of 2 contracts. When I got out on my initial entry stop (or 5 min. initial trailing stop) I get out with both contracts at the same time. Otherwise I get my first target and I am trailing the second lot.

Andy
