If Rossi is a fraud then he is the greatest con man alive....

That this doesn't work is not (necessarily) synonymous with Rossi being a fraud. Completely honorable people are as capable as everyone else of being completely wrong.

Quote from Runningbear:

If Rossi is a fraud then he is the greatest con man alive because he has managed to convince the entire University of Bologna that this thing works, including the Emeratus Professor. This is one of the oldest and most distinguished universities in the world. It's akin to the head of Harvard endorsing a new energy technology. And these guys are all scientists with 40 plus years experience. They are born skeptics.

there is this very distinguished Korean prof who convinced the whole world that he cloned a dog not long time ago.

It turned out to be total fabrication.

You guys are writing as if Rossi would hurt the society if he is proven wrong.
Of course, you will never say that G. Bush is the biggest fraud in history for telling 9/11 was a terrorists job or that FDA people are the biggest fraud for telling thousands of bogus, disgusting lies about health effects of various drugs and natural treatments.

I hope cold fusion will work in Greece and the rest of Europe and it should be banned on U.S. just like xauusd and xagusd margin trading will soon be banned in USA.

Let's also ban herbs and fruits in the USA! Ban barefoot walking, people can get hurt, you know!

I hope Rossi isn't a fraud. And I personally think he may have discovered something new and valuable, but I think we will only know when more rigorous testing is conducted. Cold Fusion is real. Over 3,000 successful experiments have been conducted. The problem has always been that reactions tend to last for only a few seconds. And occasionally a few minutes.

That's incorrect. Hot fusion that is done in the giant tokamak reactors is the one that last only for a few seconds. Cold fusion are slower reactions that can last for days or weeks.

Nicely put in a comment over on NextBigFuture:

An old man walks into the confessional booth in a Catholic church, and says "Father, I have been faithfully married for 50 years, but recently I've begun a torrid love affair with a beautiful blonde 18 year girl."
"Tell me, my son," asks the priest, "how long has it been since your last confession?"
"Never, Father," says the old man, "I'm not Catholic."
The priest is taken aback, "Then why are you telling me?"
The old man chuckles, "Oh Father, I'm telling everybody!"

When you have something that the known laws of physics say can't work, and you know it does work, why wouldn't you want to show it to everyone? I understood the secrecy back when Rossi was (supposedly) being told that his device was unpatentable, and so I didn't write it off; I hoped, and crossed my fingers, and waited. But what's the hell is the hold up now?

If test-units are being assessed by Greek authorities for safety/etc, and if a Greek factory has been running a test unit for a year... if all those claims are true, and not just hot-air, why isn't there any video, or even a photo, of any unit except Rossi's clumsy lab kit?

And if the production company is gearing up for ">300000" units per year, and if they have been granted a Greek patent, and have lodged a US patent (which the USPTO said is enough to protect them from copy-cats)... and if test-units are being assessed by Greek authorities... if those claims are all true, and not just hot-air, why haven't they loaned out ten or so production prototypes to any lab that wants them? No one can steal their tech, their IP is protected, why not end the nonsense and let people play with these things themselves. Not just standing back while Rossi waves a hose around, but actually run their own tests, in their own labs, on their own terms. I just don't understand why you wouldn't be passing these things around like candy to anyone who shows the slightest interest. Hell, I'd be holding international conferences every month with a dozen of prototype units on display, inviting every energy-using company in the world (which is every company) to come and look; showing it off, explaining how it works, taking pre-orders, creating buzz.

It's probably because the last time two scientists from Utah made a high profile media claim about cold fusion, they got chase out of the united states. Cold fusion has a stigma attached to it.

The fastest route to gaining "respectability" would be to turn over a few of these gadgets to truly independent labs.

Sorry, but all this secrecy stuff is characteristic of scams.

We shall see in due course.

theres no such thing as "truly independent labs" you can hear of.
the only labs who will have media coverage are the corrupted ones.

labs which depend on external funding will never want to do anything with cold fusion, since the moment they will do it, all funding is gone.

let rossi just do his business in a way he wants.
humanity does not deserve his invention, does not deserve free energy. how come you tell the inventor what he should do? get the f##k off.

if humanity moral standards will rise above animals.... well then cold fusion will be more widely available.
besides... who wants free energy? Answer NOBODY! people love only money and nothing else
