Analysis of Christopher Hitchen's argument against God

He knows it, he just doesn't know it for a fact.

Sounds like a true believer to me...

Quote from MarketMasher:

Let me see if I can sum some things up....

On the topic of the existence/non of God, Stu said

"Sure I know."

If he was in fact addressing the topic, and not what he was going to have for dinner that night, or he was simply acknowledging comprehension of the topic at hand, his ANSWER is - He knows whether God exists or not.

HOWEVER, by his own admission, he is not CLAIMING to know.
The definition of "claim" most appropriate in this context is "to assert or maintain as a fact".

Therefore, his ANSWER is he "knows" without asserting or maintaining it as a fact.

Which puts us back to "Belief", or "Faith".

So I suppose there is now a new religion called The Religion Of Stu.

Has a kinda catchy ring to it too..... :D

Wrong fella. Stu made no claim whatsoever, he simply answered the question put to him. Nothing more, nothing less.

YOU and your cronies on the other hand have a belief in a "god thing" that you can't even define. Now how silly irrational is that :D

So if you don't know something, and if someone asks you if you do know, and you answer "sure I know" are you being a liar by saying you know?

Tell the truth...you either know or you don't...and claiming not to have claimed something is one obvious dodge...

Saying you know, but not actually knowing, is just an expression of a belief that a person holds.

So stu holds a belief...that's what I have been saying all along, for years now...he is a believer in his beliefs...no matter how much anyone tries to suggest otherwise.

He may believe his beliefs are "more rational" than someone else, but he has no proof or fact of that.

So he has his beliefs, he believes they are more rational, and he denies he has beliefs.

And you suck up to a person who is that circular in their thinking and reasoning?

Quite funny...

not at all. he just has one of the most incisive minds posting these God belief threads. he's the terminator of reason, he can shred thru and expose the bullshit , he's an artiste ! :D

So you envision yourself to be in a position to evaluate whether or not something or someone else is reasonable?

Is this why when the going gets tough, you cry for help because you can't reason on your own, can't stand on your own two feet, you know your power to reason is seriously lacking, yet you can know who is being the most reasoned?

Laughable, absolutely laughable...

Quote from LORD KAL-EL:

Too bad you cannot be intellectually honest and just admit that you do not know if God exists or not and leave it at that.

----------------------------------------
I do know.
So now that I'm being intellectually honest, shall I leave it at that.
Will you?

Hmmm...so he Knows but makes no claim that he Knows.

Then why even post? If he thinks a non-answer is an answer, that is called Not Answering (when speaking, it is called "Silence").

Or maybe he said he Knows - but can't claim that he Knows - meaning he Knows nothing. Is that it?

I know when the going gets tough for you, you cry for others to come to your rescue.

You are not objective when it comes to stu...you are in love man.

What's that on your lip longshot? A syllojism (sp)? Nope, it is stujism...
