An interesting Travel Proposal

Quote from fearless9:

I agree with you, except that 35K usually jolts your memory as to where you left the certificate.

Also there is the underpinning insurance with Lloyds of somewhere but not necessarily London.

I couldn't give a rat's a** about 'Lloyds.' Many Lloyds syndicates have gone bust. And the coverage would never come close to compensating me for the time and frustration of having to collect. You'd probably need a lawyer for that ... fun, fun, fun.

Agreed.
But I am on holiday and I am interested to pull this scheme apart as my holiday project.

I once bought a lifetime membership in a health club. Guess what happened next?

You died?

just kidding... lol

I know, the health club went bankrupt.

I am just curious to know what sort of commissions are involved.

The Presenter was a Texan (61 years) ex RE Agent living now in PV with his thirty year old local girl friend.

Once you pulled him off his story line he was useless of course, and I wonder how many sign-ups he closes each month and what his commission would be if he ever sold anything.

For some reason he seemed keen to close within hours on the same day.

He did concede that people almost never ask to read the contract.

"Ponzi' you are thinking. Well so was I, except that two entire 23 story blocks of our hotel (Sheraton franchise) are devoted to time-share of some form or other and this scheme works from a desk within the Hotel Lobby.

Just because management gives them a desk to work from doesnt mean that its an honest gig. The numbers do not make sense from a business standpoint. If you ever want to find out if something is a scam, put yourself on the selling end of this thing. Imagine YOU are the one selling these 35k "timeshares" How much commission you getting of that 35k? How much do you pay the desk? how did you get the deals with 10,000 hotels, airlines, cruises? And how do you afford to pay someone 42,000$ when they give you 35k?

Now really...are you going to pay 35k to something that "might" be a scam in the hopes of saving a few bucks on your vacation over the next 30 years?

Seriously....stick that 35k into a divy paying stock like Philip morris(MO) earn 8.7% on your money and use that 3k per year in divys to pay for your hotel, airfare, and cruises. Should be more than enough to pay the 599$ per week rate, 500-600$ in airfare and 500 for the cruise with money left over for partying. (or maybe this is how they afford their scam. They take your money, invest in stocks and pay for your room/airfare/cruise with that money) hmmm....

You have successfully missed my point entirely.

I am keen to get under the hood of this scheme to see how close to and which side of the legal line it treads.

What I asked is, if anyone could contribute something to this cause.
So far very little.
In your case ..none
