I don't normally look at this section of Elitetrader, but I'm very glad that I did today. This article was fascinating and I thank you for posting it.
I've met a couple of fellow scientists from Scandinavia who emigrated to the U.S. and tell stories that are similar to his. Professors who work hard to do innovative research and have a big impact in their field are pressured by department colleagues to stop trying to be a high achiever. I don't understand how a society can survive this kind of thinking...let's hope that "Jenteloven" never makes it to the U.S. and that it can eventually be eliminated in Europe.
