AMZN - Earnings Thursday July 29 - My prediction and trading idea

I'm a huge fan of Amazon the company, and it made me a bit of money in 2020. But trading AMZN has taught me to treat the stock like a hungry lion... turn your back just a sec and it'll clobber you.

I've been out of AMZN much of 2021 but I'm sure it devoured a few people over the last couple of days with a staggering 380 points drop, for no apparent reasons, particularly after posting excellent results for Q2. I don't buy many of the talking heads' cliche post game bs and wonder what your thoughts are.

For example, how can the price suddenly drop 10%?; this is AMZN we're talking about, not a speculative wannabe king of the mountain. How many shares were sold? How many entities participated in the sell-out? Is anyone speculating about collusion or is that inappropriate?

I got out of AMZN precisely because of its hard to read sideways swings of the last year. I don't have the kind of capital to sit on a 5% drop of a 3k+ stock. It used to be a great investment, but there are less volatile and more rewarding stocks out there for the mid to long haul.

Yes AMZN is Recently less volatile, seems like too expensive so not many traders mess with it. Which are the rewarding stocks are you talking to?

Off the top of my head, I think GOOG CMG MSCI AZO or CTAS had better returns over last 5 years.

Thanks. And I am having the same questions like you as well. Like why Amzn dropped that much, we are talking about Amzn, not an easy to manipulate stock. And why 8% which is super massive. Where is the dip buyer? Are they not interested in that level?...

  • AMZN at $3,660.
  • All time high $3,770.
  • Earnings this Thursday July 29.
  • My prediction up 10%+ after earnings.
  • Target price about $4,000.
  • New market cap 2 trillion dollars.
Trade Idea
  • My maximum risk is $2,000.
  • The July 30 3,860 Calls ($200 OTM) are $20.50.
  • If AMZN hits $4,000 after earnings those calls will be $140.00.

Any comments on this trading idea?

What are your calls worth now?

Don't worry about it. August is upon us, which means X-Mas is now. The momentum will build. Buy AMZN now.

The drop AMZN had Friday had nothing to do with talking heads spinning quarterly earnings one way or the other. Geez like there is some kind of friggen {rickshaw nonsense} law prices should only go higher every day day after day.
