Some morons believe it's best to let govt handle everything. Even when the govt isn't there when you need them.

My original impression of that guy was that he wanted to shoot his gun and was the hunter not the victim. He kept shooting as they were running away as I recall.

He still lives in the same neighborhood and became some kind of pot dealer. He got picked up for it by the NYPD. His decision to unload on those guys definitely ruined his life.

My recollection is three thugs tried to strong arm him in the subway. One had a sharpened screwdriver. He pulled his piece and opened up on them. If you're taking on three guys and particularly if you're not highly trained, it's not surprising you hit one in the back. Confusion, panic, tunnel vision, etc.

This was pre-Guiliani NYC and this kind of street crime was common. The familiar anti-gun zealots and race hustlers had a field day persecuting Goetz. If he had been in Texas, they probably would have given him a good citizenship award.

You could tell it was a rural TV station. They acted like it was normal for a clerk to be carrying and draw on an armed robber. If he did it in a big city, he would probably have been fired, plus all the anti-gun zealots would be hysterical.

Agree absolutely. In fact criminologists estimate that somewhere between 10's of thousands to a million times a year. Private gun owners thwart crimes, most without firing a shot.
Of course anti gun pussies refuse to believe anything not reported by the big 3 nets or MSM.

The last guy to do that in NYC was Bernard Goetz. He shot some subway thugs and was hunted down by the police like he was some serial killer.

Remember that as a kid. I can remember thinking to myself, "he must be a really bad man." Why? That's what the then MSM spewed at the top of the 6:30 PM broadcast. After realizing just how fucked up the MSM was then (look now!:eek::eek, I realized just how terrorized the little guy must have felt. I think he should be wearing a medal myself!
