Amex 5000

Trading NVLS...noticed a new MM/ECN on the Level2. Symbol was AMEX and constantly showing 5000 on both the bid and ask. Didn't see this on any other nasdaq stocks. This is something new right, or have I been blind? Anyone can tell me who/what it is. Didn't seem to ever actually get filled...just was kind of there. Thanks.

dot, thanks for the reply. what's the role exactly?...because this is the first day on NVLS and it seems to be holding a firm group on movement...stopping a lot of runs and drops etc. What order route will buy/sell to and from AMEX? again thanks for the quick reply.
