Quote from darkhorse:
considering that the UN recently chose Libya to chair their human rights commission, the idea that they have any moral authority whatsoever is a sick joke.

Who are they going to sell it to? There is not an insatiable monthly unmet demand for oil. Selling it to Russia and/or France simply reduces those two countries need to buy it elsewhere, thereby producing an increase in supply, elsewhere. Now, if your pal Saddam sets off a nuclear device contaminating that regions oil, the entire world as we know it is, well... fucked, to put it lightly.Quote from bungrider:
If Bush would say "we need that friggin' oil in Iraq! And we need it now before Saddam can pump it and sell it!" THEN I would have SOME respect for him.
Is this like the time we invaded Iraq the first time and kept all their oil, and Kuwait's oil, or the time we prevailed over Japan and Germany and kept their countries for our own?Quote from bungrider:
I'm not disagreeing with you there. Quite the opposite. We all need tons of oil.
I get REALLY pissed when people lie to me, whether it's politicians or family members making bullshit excuses about stuff like I'm an idiot who doesn't have his ear to the ground and doesn't know what's going on...
I mean, call a spade a spade - if you want oil, don't lie about it.
If Bush would say "we need that friggin' oil in Iraq! And we need it now before Saddam can pump it and sell it!" THEN I would have SOME respect for him.
I'm just tired of being lied to...
And I'm also pissed that MY tax dollars are paying for this war - and Haliburton and all of those other PRIVATE companies who pollute MY environment line their POCKETS from this WAR that MY tax dollars are paying for.
Thanks for listening.
