American small businessman schools rep on austerity

Quote from Ricter:

"Instead of helplessly wringing our hands and crying out about the high price of fuel and food, let us accept the present state of things and brace ourselves up helpfully and bravely to face the increased cost of the necessities of life. If fuel and food cost nearly twice as much at present as they did ten years ago, then surely it becomes our imperative duty to see how we can, each of us, according to our possibilities, make the material for warmth and cooking go twice as far as they have done hitherto."
- LADY BARKER, First Lessons in the Principles of Cooking, 1874

Yes, let them eat cake, right Madame Antoinette?

(note, there is some speculation Marie Antoinette never even said this).

What sort of fucked up mind goes around searching and clipping stupid and arcane stuff like this just so they can have it at the ready to fire back as a retort on an internet forum?

btw: Funny how liberals think the law of thermodynamics can be endlessly tweaked to provide never ending conservation of energy . It's like they believe in a cost free perpetual motion machine. Combine this stupidity with the corresponding opposite belief that raising costs & taxes in % terms will blithely have no effect upon their environment.
Doesn't this belief system remind you of a 5 yo will still believes in the tooth fairy?

nevertheless we see that attitude ubiquitously in all their policies from AGW to Zero tolerance for pop tarts in the shape of a gun.

The point is, there has been "terrible" food inflation for 150 years and we not only survived it, we became the greatest nation on earth.

So do your squiggly lines have a point you'd like to make?

this is the first time in a while his graphs make a real argument, if they are accurate.

grain stocks are lower even though production is up, so we can surmise greater un met demand ergo food prices are higher.
