I am with you on this Saxon. Sorry Pabst, but the Iraq has been the biggest clusterf*ck in the last century. I couldn't believe ppl. re-elected that red neck from Texas with a quick trigger finger. It just goes to show, in times of stress and pressure ppl. will vote for the devil they know over the one they don't. Now before you call me a tree hugger I was in total support of the War in Afghanistan.
That freakin' war is going to bankrupt this country. Want to take a guess at the real cost of the war? I say 2 trillion. We are at just under $1 trillion right now, when we were told approx. $200 bil.
Like it or not the US is an imperialist country. How many years after WWII do we still have toops on Germany and Japan? We are never going to completely leave Iraq, never people! The US does alot of good, but it comes at a big price at times.
Bush is best buddies with the House of Saud. Pabst you know that. Where did those Jihad freaks come from? If anything the Iraq war has been a recruiting effort for Jihad freaks showing the Muslim world that we really are imperialists out to oppress them. Bush should have listened to his Daddy. He was smart enough not to go to topple Hessian. Now we have another 10 year Balkans war in the Middle East.
We have enough problems in this country without having to worry about toppling governments and installing US pro puppets. I say we have enough guns and now we need more butter.
Here's something to get you thinking. The real problem is extremism. We are fighting Jihad extremist freaks and our country is being run be a right-wing religious freak.
Back to on topic. On the savings rate, if ppl just read The Millionaire Next Door and Start Late Finish Rich and lived by those principles, they would be fine. Immediate gratification comes at a price.
America, hands, down still has the greatest freedom of any country on the planet. Even with the Patriot Act IMO. Freedom to do some really stupid things which impact society as a whole, whether that be your neighbors taking out loans that can't pay for or ppl. in your community owning assault rifles.
You also have the freedom to start a biz, get great tax write offs, and learn how to be a successful day trader. I am opting for the latter. Enjoy your weekend everyone.
Post Edit: Fearless is correct I should have said alot of freedom, the most is incorrect, besides it's extremely hard to quantify absolutes. Especially in light of the Patriot Act, which I am no fan of.
